Ex Machina: Manoury - Berio
Musical thought today must be able to interact with the new technologies and to adapt itself creatively to every kind of space, exploring its virtualities and reshaping it acoustically. Luciano Berio
When Berio, at the heart of the Florentine studio Tempo Reale, was creating the sound for Ofanim (Hebrew "wheels" and "manner") a vocal and electronic work based on fragments from the Song of Songs and the Book of Ezekiel, Philippe Manoury was working with IRCAM on his large-scale project Tempus ex machina. The last work in a groundbreaking series, Neptune compares three percussions with an interactive system where musicians control the synthesis in real-time.
