Born in 1973, Cédric Villani studies mathematics in Paris at the Ecole Normale Supérieure from 1992 to 1996. He continued his studies four years further in order to become a qualified teacher. In 1998, he defended his thesis on the mathematical theory of the Boltzmann equation. Since 2000, he has been a professor at the ENS de Lyon and at the Université de Lyon. He has also been a guest professor in Atlanta, at Berkeley, and at Princeton. Since 2009, he has been Director of the Institut Henri Poincaré in Paris. He has earned several French and international awards for his work including a Fields Medal, received in India in 2010. He is now the spokesman and ambassador for the French mathematic community.
Karol Beffa studied history, English, philosophy, and mathematics at the École Normale Supérieure in Paris (Ulm). He won 8 first prizes at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique de Paris. A qualified teacher, he taught at the Université Paris IV-Sorbonne (1998-2003) and at the École Polytechnique (2003-2008). In 2003, he defended his doctoral thesis on György Ligeti's piano studies. Since 2004, he has been a lecturer at the École Normale Supérieure. As an improv musician, he regularly performs with silent films and readings. He has written music for 12 films, and 2 scores for plays. He won the Best Composer of the Year award at the Victoires de la Musique from 2009 to 2012.
Born in 1986, Jean-Frédéric Neuburger began his studies in 2000 at the Music Conservatory of Paris where he won five first prizes. Soon after completing his studies, he began a career as a performer that is characterized by the wide range of his repertoire, from Bach to composers of the 21st century. His compositions, initially marked by the apparent influence of Messiaen and Stockhausen, evolved more and more toward a synthesis of a variety of contemporary trends, each work could have its own language. Jean-Frédéric Neuburger has been a professor at the Conservatoire de Paris since 2009, confirming the importance of teaching for him. The European Concert Hall Organization named him "Rising Star" for the 2010-2011 concert season.
